Primary - The fission trigger or first stage of a multistage thermonuclear weapon or device.
Secondary - A nuclear stage physically separate from the primary.
Shell
Radiation Case - Radiation cavity or hohlraum - An envelope, opaque to x-rays used to confine radiation in a staged weapon.
Radiation Channel - Space within the radiation case through which radiation flows and surrounds the secondary.
The band of X-rays most favorable for efficient compression is know to be centered around 30 nanometers.
Channel filler - use of intermediate-weight elements of specific opacity for the channel fillers help to "filter" the x-ray radiation created by the primary, Fillers composed of silicon and tantalum which absorb on either side of 30 nanometers, to filter the x-rays.
Suitable mixtures of these two elements should, generate a plasma that is transparent to only soft x-rays, suppressing the hard x-rays that preheat the fuel and ultraviolet energy that is too soft to generate efficient compression.
